What is a book hangover? + How do I know that I have a book hangover?

Ever get that feeling after a book where you're just so empty and you just keep on staring at a wall or to the void of space without knowing? Ever feel so mad and relieved at the same time that your head hurts after reading a series that you've waited years for? And have you ever just felt that invisible heavy force on your heart after you've cried yourself dry after reading the series finale? If you've answered yes to any or all of that, Congratulation dear reader, you have entered the phase of the Book Hangover!

A book hangover is that state wen you feel the emptiness after reading a good book or series. In it, you'll feel all the memories that you've gone through reading the book. You'll feel the sadness, happiness, relief and angst of it all. Now some book hangovers last for days to months. Some never end. Now don't be afraid to read books, this is just another phase that we readers go through. Each one is different from the other.

Now how would you know you're in this state? First thing is that, you can already know in advance that you're going to get one when you're so drunk on the book you're reading that you've been flying through it. Expect one ahead of time if that happens. You'll also know you're in one if you have some withdrawals. You'll refuse to do some things because it reminds you of your fave fictional character and it hurts too much. If you'll randomly black out and just stare off into space while reliving all that your fictional hero has been through is likewise another sign that you're experiencing this.

Don't be afraid of the hangover. It is in this phase that you'll eventually learn to love the series as a whole with the ups and the downs. Mind you, this phase brings tears nonetheless but you'll feel the greatness of it all even just for a little while. learn to embrace the Book Hangover and try to find yourself while there.
